Project MCP: July

July went fast, and buddy was it hot.

Challenge #1: Capture the meaning of the word “independence” in a photo
What better a way to capture Independence than a picture of the most independent person I know...Ada.  That little girl wants to do it all by herself.  The second we pull into a parking lot, she starts saying "gock, gock." That her work for walk.  She never wants to hold hands, but reluctantly does when she's threatened with being held instead of walking.  She also loves to walk up and down the stairs, and refuses for anyone to touch her.  For this photo I let her walk upstairs.  Jeff was at the top, and almost had a heart attack to see her completely alone.  She was of course fine!

Challenge #2:  Take a photo of something red, white and/or blue
This photo is my race bib from the Red, White, and Blue Shoes 5k at Furman on July 4th.  I was really worried about the heat, but most of the course was pretty shady.  It was a fun race!  We didn't have any other big plans for the fourth...and we usually don't, but I'm hoping that this will become a fun tradition.

Challenge #3:  Take a bokeh photo
For those of you who haven't heard for bokeh, it's a term (taken from the Japanese word for blur) for shallow depth of field.  Bokeh seems to be a buzz word in photography the last several years.  The technique has been around as long as apertures.  These are fun photos to take...so I have a few.  Look the one above would even apply.

aphids...ugh!

Challenge #4: Take a photo of your favorite summer activity.
I really don't know what my favorite summer activity is.  I like gardening, but then again, it's hot, so that can be a little blah.  Another thing I like to do...or used to like to do...was go downtown on Friday nights with Jeff, walk a little, have a little ice cream.  I can't even remember the last time we did that.  Ada's bedtime is around 7:15....so yeah, that kind of puts a wrench in things.  We have lots of fun trying to stay cool, eating homemade popsicles.  Yum!  On this day it was mango/strawberry.
